    I gave up a lot of sugary food in the new year and it did wonders for weight loss then I hit a plateau. Keeping a food diary for a few weeks showed I eat an awful lot of carbs, more than the recommended amounts. Years ago when the Slimming World diet had red (protein)/green (vegetarian) diets on green days I really struggled to lose much weight. So I knew I had an issue. Then along comes this book on netgalley.... I had never heard of the Keto diet but reading through this it looks like the answe I gave up a lot of sugary food in the new year and it did wonders for weight loss then I hit a plateau.     Just as the title indicates, this is a wonderful “ beginners” book to learn about the keto diet. For the author it is a lifestyle rather than a diet, meaning it is about the food choices she makes everyday to maintain a healthy body rather than losing weight. We always associate a ”diet” with a weight lose program and so she does explain it in those terms. She provides great background information on how and why the keto diet works and she cites medical back up. She explains what foods work best Just as the title indicates, this is a wonderful “ beginners” book to learn about the keto diet. For the author it is a lifestyle rather than a diet, meaning it is about the food choices she makes everyday to maintain a healthy body rather than losing weight. We always associate a ”diet” with a weight lose program and so she does explain it in those terms. She provides great background information on how and why the keto diet works and she cites medical back up. She explains what foods work best for this program, and which don’t work. She provides food lists that should be staples to this diet, and lists of replacements for those favourite foods you might miss. The recipes are fairly simple and use ordinary easy to find foods, probably much the same that you would cook with anyway. I tried a few and they were tasty. I like to use lots of spices when cooking anyway, so this wasn’t much of a challenge for my palate. It is really, for my household, a matter of removing the bread and grains from meals, and starches like potatoes, rice, pasta, and reducing sugars. But for the big meat-eaters in the family, it works well. So we’ll see... I’m still a little antsy about the increased use of fat, so I am being mindful of my choices. I’m not convinced I would make it a lifestyle choice, but a one month trial to detox and shed those Christmas pounds will be manageable. Highly recommend this book. Very informative and concise. I will definitely check out some of her other cookbooks.

    Out of all the diets I have dabbled with, Keto has been the most intimidating for me. Having to figure out protein, fats, carb ratios can be overwhelming when all I want to do is have my breakfast before my kids start to ask for second helpings with theirs. Slajerova took away all the anxiety I have about Keto and provided an easy-to-follow guide to the most elusive diet known to man, or at least to me. The food list she offers is a helpful way for beginners like me to understand the break down Out of all the diets I have dabbled with, Keto has been the most intimidating for me. Having to figure out protein, fats, carb ratios can be overwhelming when all I want to do is have my breakfast before my kids start to ask for second helpings with theirs. Slajerova took away all the anxiety I have about Keto and provided an easy-to-follow guide to the most elusive diet known to man, or at least to me. The food list she offers is a helpful way for beginners like me to understand the break down of foods and the benefits the diet provides when followed correctly. The recipes vary, but are simple without having to labor over a long ingredient list or slave over long preparation and cooking which a busy parent like me appreciates and values.

There's a big chapter in the beginning of the book that explains the basics of the Keto Diet, and I learned a lot. A lot of the recipes have their pictures. I need to know what the recipe is supposed to look like, even if it won't look like that when I will make it. The nutrition facts are shown per serving, that’s a big plus.     I have been hearing a lot about the Keto Diet but have not really looked into it until now. This book fully explains the diet and gives you over 100 recipes to get you started. I loved looking through the delicious recipes but the amount of information on the diet itself is just amazing. This book really is great for the beginner as well as those who have been on the diet. The food charts and tips and tricks are awesome and easy to read and follow. And the recipes are great or anyone even those I have been hearing a lot about the Keto Diet but have not really looked into it until now. This book fully explains the diet and gives you over 100 recipes to get you started. I loved looking through the delicious recipes but the amount of information on the diet itself is just amazing. This book really is great for the beginner as well as those who have been on the diet. The food charts and tips and tricks are awesome and easy to read and follow. And the recipes are great or anyone even those who have no interest in the diet at all. The recipes will have you drooling. We have seen diets from South Beach to Aktins and they work for a time and than everyone starts to gain the weight back. Why you ask? To be honest no one should diet you should change your lifestyle towards eating. I am not on the diet but I am interested in recipes that are healthy and ways to get more veggies in my kids diets. The beginning of the book explains in detail the list of carbs that are in different items of food like veggies and fruits. It Explains how much you need each day to live this diet and why it is important to add fitness. Diet is 80 % of weight loss and fitness in only 20% (Depends on what diet book you are reading.) There is a section in the book for vegetarian and dairy free. Which helps this mom out since all but one of the kids have dairy allergies (Yup very little dairy in this house) While I live by the my words I don't diet I do understand changing your lifestyle and how to eat to better your health. If you can stick to this diet I am sure there are wonderful out comes but remember be realize to what your, body, mind and lifestyle can do. This isn't a quick fix this is a life style choice.     I have heard many people have success from a Keto / low carb diet. However, each time I try to do some research on it, I don't know where to start and quickly give up. I LOVE how this book starts off with a basic and easy to understand explanation of a Keto diet and exactly where you should start. How many carbs are in an apple, or a cucumber? In the past I quickly grew sick of looking this up each time I wanted a snack. This book is great by providing you an easy to read table of Total and Net I have heard many people have success from a Keto / low carb diet. However, each time I try to do some research on it, I don't know where to start and quickly give up. I LOVE how this book starts off with a basic and easy to understand explanation of a Keto diet and exactly where you should start. How many carbs are in an apple, or a cucumber? In the past I quickly grew sick of looking this up each time I wanted a snack. This book is great by providing you an easy to read table of Total and Net Carbs for common foods (fruits, veggies, protein, seeds/nuts). Another favorite page of mine is the "Low Carb Swaps" section - This will take common indulgences/down falls and provide you with alternative substitutes as well as provide you with keto staples to keep in your fridge/pantry. For me to be interested in a cooking book, the most important thing is PICTURES. I need a picture for every recipe. If there is not a picture for a recipe, I will not make it. The pictures that are included are beautifully, however, ideally I really think there should be a picture for EVERY SINGLE recipe. I love the nutritional facts on each recipe - being a "diet" book I am extremely happy to see this at the bottom of each page. I am extremely happy to see a drinks and desserts chapter - who doesn't need a treat now and again? 4 out of 5 stars. Would be 5 stars if more pictures.

    A great beginner's guide to the Keto diet with some fantastic recipes to keep you on track. I have been on Keto for a while and tend to get a bit lazy and boring with my meals. This lovely cookbook has given me some inspiration to try some new dishes again. There are plenty of new meals here I haven't seen elsewhere, like the Focaccia and the Spicy Chorizo Cloud Eggs. These will be the first ones I try. And the Vegetable Rose Pie looks fantastic.     This cookbook is fantastic! The recipes sound so delicious and the pictures are beautiful! I am so excited to try the recipes in here! The beginning of the book goes into pretty thorough detail about the keto diet and lists carb amounts for many fruits and veggies. While I do not adhere to the keto diet, I was interested in this book for the large number of recipes that do use vegetables in them. Mainly the cost of the ingredients are higher for some, I still have to cook for husband and children, so adding flaxseed/ psyllium husk/ cacao butter would push the budget over. Some of the recipes are easier to adapt into my lifestyle. The pictures look really appetizing, looks like a wholesome meal! When I got this book for review I was mainly interested in the recipes and was hoping only for recipes, but the author insists on a whole introduction why keto is the healthy diet. Peanuts have been linked to causing that and that? Well, guess what, so has meat. The entire introduction feels like someone selecting only the studies that benefit their cause and I am not ok with that. Just like I am not ok with any diet that exclu I was sent a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. When I got this book for review I was mainly interested in the recipes and was hoping only for recipes, but the author insists on a whole introduction why keto is the healthy diet. Peanuts have been linked to causing that and that? Well, guess what, so has meat. The entire introduction feels like someone selecting only the studies that benefit their cause and I am not ok with that. Just like I am not ok with any diet that excludes a bunch of foods because a disease only some humans have (hello gluten haters) or based on a bunch of finely selected studies to meet their purpose. The only diet excluding things that I agree with is a vegan diet - and only when they animal product is excluded for environmental and animal-care reason, not for health... Ignore my health rant from above, the recipes in this book are interesting, at least some of them. I have selected a few that I would like to try, but overall they have too many recipes to make this lifestyle easy - any recipe that needs 12 other ingredients to replace flour seems like too much work in my book, although I am making that tiramisu crepe cake no matter the length of the ingredient list! The author focused a lot on helping beginners get the basis of keto, but I think if you want to make a lifestyle change or a diet change easy, you should have more easy recipes even if that sometimes is zucchini noodles with grilled chicken and avocado sauce (I just made up this recipe in my head, but I probably only need 5 or 6 ingredients to make it). This book just seems to hard for a beginner.

The book starts with an introduction as to why the author starting eating a KetoDiet, some facts and charts about the Keto (including information on fiber and protein), and a discussion of basic staples. The introduction section provides a lot of information and backs up the information with study names that you can research. There are also a lot of tables to help you figure out different nutrient values. Also, fun facts like one Brazil nut has more than 100% of the RDA of selenium. Some of my favorite recipes are: Flavored Butters, Green Skillet Eggs, Jalapeno & Cheese Muffins, Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers Two Ways, Chicken Meatball Pho, Vegetable Rose Pie, Masala Cauli-Rice with Grilled Halloumi, Butter Chicken, Chicken Piccata, and Mexican Chocolate Fudgesicles. The recipes often contain harder to find ingredients, but not too hard to find. And there are lots of pictures which always improves a cookbook for me. I am not entirely sold on the idea of a Keto diet, but I found several really good recipes in this book that I will continue to make. And I feel this book provides a lot of information on the Keto diet to help you get more informed.

    I did receive a digital copy of this book through netgalley to be able to post my honest review. I have been trying to find a way to lose weight and one thing that everyone is raving about is the Keto Diet and I thought why not give it a try. I have found that it's an easier diet to follow, but for some having major food allergies can cause an issue for following it as well. I did find that the recipes were easy to follow and it was simple to make too. Some of the recipes I made were good but so I did receive a digital copy of this book through netgalley to be able to post my honest review. I have found that it's an easier diet to follow, but for some having major food allergies can cause an issue for following it as well. I did find that the recipes were easy to follow and it was simple to make too. Some of the recipes I made were good but some I looked and didn't feel like my family would enjoy at all. I do have to say that I plan on using this cookbook more and I can't wait to make more tasty recipes for me and my family! I highly recommend this book for all those who are interested in beginning the Keto Diet and you will enjoy the book and how easy the recipes are. And the steps to going Keto has been wonderful for those who are just plain lost on how to begin it on their own. Thank you for this!

    Must-have book if you are starting a ketogenic lifestyle. As someone considering starting a Ketogenic way of eating, I found the explanation of how a keto diet works to very interesting and not overcomplicated. The book contains a comprehensive guide on what foods to avoid and which to eat in abundance, and the recipes definitely help you feel that you are not missing out. Overall, a very helpful book for those starting out on a keto diet and those who are already committed to that way of eating Must-have book if you are starting a ketogenic lifestyle. As someone considering starting a Ketogenic way of eating, I found the explanation of how a keto diet works to very interesting and not overcomplicated. I enjoyed the recipes of this book, Spicy Chorizo Cloud Eggs, Tomato & Feta Bruschetta, Chicken Parmesan Casserole. The pictures, layout, and font very appealing. I would consult with my doctor before following this book word for word. I would not do this as a diet but pull the aspects of this book that works for me and use it as a guide for healthier living. I cannot wait to try more recipes and really I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Fair Winds Press for my unbiased opinion of the book.     I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This cookbook was very informative and had some great recipes. It really simplified and broke down what Keto is, how to do it properly, what to expect, and it had tips and tricks. It has some really easy recipes (I haven’t tried them yet but I have some picked out that I can’t wait to try!) and some gorgeous pictures of the food. Great book and I can’t wait to make these yummy recipes

    Very good book. I found it easy to read for a beginner like myself. The charts are a big help and the information is very informative.
